Two pedestrians were seriously injured after a vehicle struck them at a busy intersection in Lakemba, Sydney, on Tuesday afternoon, triggering a major emergency response and a police investigation. The crash occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on The Boulevarde near Lakemba railway station, where CCTV footage reportedly captured a white Toyota Tarago hitting two people as they crossed at traffic lights before colliding with an Audi SUV.
Emergency crews, including NSW Ambulance paramedics and police, rushed to the scene and treated the victims before transporting them to hospital. Authorities said a man in his 60s suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to St George Hospital in critical condition, while a woman in her 30s was transported to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition. The 82-year-old driver of the Toyota was also taken to hospital for assessment and mandatory testing.
